Privacy Policy
Last updated October 24, 2026What we collect
When you register, Open City stores your chosen username, a salted password hash, a random-session identifier hash, and single-player game progress (cash, story mission, health, ammo, fictional game-world position, and unlocked landmarks). We do not ask for an email address, real name, phone number, date of birth, or payment information. Age confirmation is self-attested.
Cookies and device storage
A strictly necessary, HttpOnly session cookie keeps your account signed in for up to 30 days. Guest progress is stored in your browser's local storage. Signed-in players also have their game progress saved in a private server database. No advertising or analytics cookies are intentionally added by the game.
Security and retention
Passwords are protected with a salted memory-hard hash, not stored in readable form. Account data is used to authenticate you and restore game progress; we do not sell account information. Your IP address can be processed temporarily for abuse prevention, network routing, and ordinary hosting logs. Deleting your account removes your username, password hash, sessions, and server-side save from the active application database. Hosting backups, if present, may retain data until backup expiry.
Your choices
You may play without an account, sign out, or delete your account and its online save through the in-game pause menu. You can also clear local guest data through your browser. A password-recovery feature is not currently available: safeguard your password.
Audience and limitations
The game is intended for adults 18 and older and contains fictional criminal themes and simulated violence. The age checkbox is not proof of age. Open City is an early public beta; accounts and cloud saves do not provide live multiplayer communication.
